STORIES

Through stories and printed labels, we are motivating our kids to reading. Here you see photos of Ms. Heide's story of "The Ant and the Cicade". She created different backgrounds (winter, summer, etc) and she made movable characters that can carry accesories (hats, water cans, lifesafers, and others)!!! Kids are having a blast listening and retelling the story. Here you can aslo see the story Ms. Marcela has told and retold kids: "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" presenting the sequence of events using different cards with moments of the story. Através de cuentos y etiquetas impresas, estamos motivando a nuestros niños hacia la lectura. Aqui hay fotos del cuento de Ms. Heide de "La Hormiga y la Cigarra". Ella creo differentes paisajes (invierno, verano, etc) y también hizo los personajes que son movibles y llevan accesorios (sombreros, regaderas, salvavidas, y otros)!!! Los niños la están pasando de maravilla escuchando y recontando el cuento. Aqui también pueden ver el cuento que Ms. Marcela ha contado y recontado a los niños: "Ricitos de Oro y los Tres Osos" presentando la secuencia de los eventos empleando diferentes tarjetas con momentos del cuento.

Bolivia's Anniversary

This year, our preschool students proudly marched alongside Fifth Graders at the parade in Tiquipaya in honor of our country's Independence. They also did many art activities as you may see in the photos. May we always keep our country dear to aou hearts! Este año, nuestros estudiantes del Nivel Inicial orgullosamente marcharon lado a lado con los alumnos del Quinto de Primaria en el desfile de Tiquipaya en honor de la independencia de nuestro pais. También realizaron muchas actividades de arte como pueden ver en las fotos. Ojala siempre mantengamos a muestro pais en nuestro corazón.

ART CONTEST

This year Colegio Tiquipaya has its first art contest "Tiquipaya a Colores". Kids have been working for several weeks with different art techniques creating a portafolio. We had 2 special days when all Preschool and Elementary students painted their last artwork. Right now we are having the expositions of one painting per student. The jury has been invited and a first, second and third place are chosen. The winners of the First place will illustrate our 2007 Colegio Tiquipaya Calendar!

Este año el Colegio Tiquipaya tiene su primer concurso de arte "Tiquipaya a Colores". Los chicos han estado trabajando con distintas técnicas por varias semanas creando un portafolio. Tuvimos 2 días especiales en los cuales estudinates del Nivel Inicial y de Primaria realizarón su última obra. En este momento, estamos exponiendo 1 obra por estudiante e invitamos al jurado. Un primer, segundo u tercer lugar son escogidos. Los ganadores del Primer lugar ilustrarán nuestro Calendario del Colegio Tiquipaya 2007!

Visits to Art Galeries

This semestre we visited 4 Art Galeries in Cochabamba. Kids watched art students painting on canvases at the Galería de Arte Urquidi, they were amazed at the display of Mamani Mamani's master pieces, they wondered before the paintings of several artists at the galery of the "Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Bolivia", and they marveled and walked around once and again among sculpures and paintings at the "Sala de exposición Gildaro Antezana. Kids enjoyed looking at different kinds of artistic expresions. Este semstre visitamos 4 Galerias de Arte en Cochabamba. Los chicos vieron a los estudiantes de arte pintar sobre lienzos en la Galería de Arte Urquidi, se sorprendieron ante la exposición de las obras maestras de Mamani Manani, se enaltecieron ante las pinturas de varios artistas en la galería de la "Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Bolivia", y se maravillaron y pasearon una y otra vez entre las esculturas y pinturas en la "Sala de Exposición Gildaro Antezana"

BACK FROM OUR WINTER VACATION

Kids and teachers are back to school activities. Our Pre-Kinder Bears are learning new songs and rhymes. They sing "Ten Little Indians" and chant "One. Two Buckle My Shoe" on their way back from recess. They know their letters much better. (Right now they are seeing "R") Their fine motor skills have improved a great deal. Soon I'll post some photos with samples of their art work). Our Kinder Lions are reinforcing letters using sign language! They are also in charge of keeping their class organized responding excellently to their responsabilities as class helpers. Our Kinder Dolphins have by now an extensive repertoir of fingerplays and chants for their letters. They also show excellent working habits. Los niños y las profesoras están de vuelta en las actividades escolares. Nuestros Osos del Pre Kinder están aprendiendo nuevas canciones y rimas. Cantan "Ten Little Indians" ("Los Diez Pequeños Indios") y recitan "One, Two Buckle My Shoe"(Uno, Dos Abrocho mi zapato) en su camino de regreso del recreo. Ya conocen mucho mejor sus letras (En este momento están viendo la letra "R") Ha mejorado muchísimo su motricidad fina. Pronto pondré las fotos con muestras de sus trabajos de arte.) Nuestros Leones de Kinder están reforzando las letras usando lenguaje de señas! Además, están a cargo de mantener su curso organizado respondiendo de manera excelente a sus responsabilidades como ayudantes de curso. Nuestros Delfines del Kinder ya tienen un extenso repertorio de cancioncitas para sus letras. También demuestran excelentes hábitos de trabajo.

Our Theater Show

Los Osos de Pre-Kinder presentaron "El Hombre de Jengibre". Una vez que hubieron aprendido los dialogos, que los disfraces estuvieron listos y que el esenario estuvo terminado, invitamos a los estudiantes de Primero de Primaria a ver la obra. Ese mismo día, los leones de Kinder presentaron "Mama, me amas?" para la cuál Ms. Marcela adaptó esa historia tan tierna e incluyó una canción. Los disfraces de los niños incluyeron hermoso maquillaje. Así, ellos se mostraron muy orgullosos de si mismos. Pre Kinder Bears presented "The Gingerbread Man". Once dialogues were learnt, costumes ready and scenery finished, we invited First graders to see the play. Pre- Kinder Bears were great on stage and spoke loudly and clearly. On the same day, Kinder Lions presented "Mama, Do you love me?" for which Ms. Marcela adapted the tender story and included a song. Kids costumes included beautiful make up. Thus, they were very proud of themselves!

Teacher's Day

We had a mini show to express our appreciation to our teachers. Thanks to Room Mothers and Room Fathers, we shared a snack and students gave teachers super big cards they had made. There were also sweet red roses for all thos teacher that take part in the learning process of our preschooler.

Valorando la tarea que cumplen los maestros en la formación de un niño, celebramos a nuestras profesoras con un pequeño show. Gracias a los padres representantes de cada curso, compartimos una merienda y los chicos entregaron unas targetas super grandes que hicieron para sus profesoras de aula. Además, hubieron hermosas rosas rojas con dulce fragancia para todas las profesoras que interviene en el proceso de enseñanza de nuestros niños de prescolar.

FAMILY DAY

We celebrate Family Day trying to encourage families to spend some time together. Parents and students were invited to participate in a small talent show and families could also compete in a rally. Before this date, students in preschool talked about different kinds of families with Ms. Monica our teacher for Education In Values. Understanding that there may be different family structures is important in order to value our own. Thus, families were invited to the celebration as such... children could come with Mom or Dad or grandma or uncle etc. Celebramos el Día de la Familia intentando alentar a las familias a pasar algún tiempito juntas. Los padres y los estudiantes fueron invitados a participar en un pequeño show de talentos y las familias también podían competir en un rally. Antes de la fecha, los almnos del Nivel Inicial hablaron con Ms. Mónica, la profesora de "Educación en Valores", sobre los distintos tipos de familias. Es importante comprender que las familias pueden estar estucturadas de diferente manera; así, llegamos a valorar la nuestra. Por ello, las familias fueron invitadas a la celebración como tal... los niños podían venir con Mamá o Papá o la abuelita o el tio, etc.

Mother's Day

Our preschool celebrated Mother's Day with songs, a poem and dances. Commemorating mothers in all cultures, we had a dance called The Pioneers presented by Pre Kinder Bears, a Tinku dance performed by Kinder Lions and a Saya Afro by Kinder Dolphins. Children rehearsed a lot before the show with Ms. Justina; and thus, they danced beautifully! Then still humming to the tune of our songs, we had a healthy snack of vegetables and dips accompained by tuna sandwiches and fruit juice. Moms got presents made by the children and many hugs and kisses.

Nuestro Nivel Inicial celebró el Día de la Madre con canciones, un poema y bailes. Comemorando a las madres de todas las culturas, tuvimos una danza llamada Los Pioneros presentada por los Osos de Pre KInder, un Tinku realizado por los Leones de Kinder y una Saya Afro por los Delfínes de Kinder. Los niños ensayaron mucho antes del show con Ms. Justina; y así, Las danzas estuvieron hermosas! Luego, aún tarareando al son de nuestras canciones, comimos una saludable merienda de vegetales con salsas acompañados por emparedados de atún y jugo de frutas. Las mamás recibieron regalos hechos por los chicos y muchos abrazos y besos.

Children's Day

To make of this day a special one for our students, Preschool and Elementary students enjoyed a day at "La Campiña". There students had fun in the pool and the park. Our young ones were supervised by teachers and parents; thus, they splashed around, run and played safely. It was a sunny day and the natural beauty of the place includes gardens and animals which kids enjoyed visiting. Para hacer de este día uno especial para nuestros estudiantes, estudiantes del Nivel Inicial y del Ciclo de Primaria disfrutaron un día en "La Campiña". Allí los estudiantes se diviertieron en la piscina y el parque infantil. Nuestros pequeños fueron supervisados por profesoras y padres de familia; así, nadaron, corrieron y jugaron a salvo. Fue un día soleado y la belleza natural del lugar incluye jardines y animales a los cuales los chicos visitaron.

Sports' Year

It is a tradition for Colegio Tiquipaya to begin the Sports' Year with a special event. Each class has a distintive shirt and Preschoolers include their logo. There is a parade, a short ceremony including the lighting of an Olympic Fire and lots of games. This year the rain forced us to postpone the games; however, here are some pictures of the event and some of the games before the rain spoiled our plans. The good news is that on Family Day (to be celebrated June 3rd) we'll have a Rally for all kids wanting to participate with their parents or other relatives!!! Don't miss it! Es una tradición del Colegio Tiquipaya empezar el Año Deportivo con un evento especial. Cada curso tiene una polera distintiva y el Pre-escolar incluye su logo. Hay un desfile, una ceremonia corta que incluye el encendido de la Llama Olimpica y muchos juegos. Este año, la lluvia nos forzó a postoner los juegos; sin embargo, aqui están algunas de las fotos del evento y de algunos juegos antes de que la lluvia arruine nuestros planes. Las buenas noticias son que en el Día de la Familia (a celebrarse el 3 de Junio), tendremos un Rally para todos los estudiantes que quieran participar con sus padres u otros familiares!!! No se lo pierdan!

Fine Motor and Gross Motor Skills

Our students work with their teachers or on their own improving their fine motor and gross motor skills. Here you can see some Kinder Lions drawing on whiteboards. Some Kinder Dolphins are on top of the monkey bars and in P.E. class with Ms. Justina exploring the uses of hula hoops. Nuestros estudiantes trabajan con sus profesoras o por su cuenta mejorando sus habilidades motoras gruesas y finas. Aqui pueden ver a algunos de los Leones de Kinder dibujando en las pizzaritas blancas. Algunos de los delfínes de Kinder están subidos en la sima de las barras y en clase de Educación Física con Ms. Justina explorando los usos de las hula hulas.

Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day inviting them to play games and share some time with their children. Kids' fathers, and some mothers:) read stories, put together puzzles, played "La Moneda Indiscreta", and participated in a competion of marbles! Then, we had a short show with songs and a poem. Finally, kids gave their dads their handmade presents and shared a snack.

Celebramos el Día del Padre invitandoles a jugar y compartir tiempo con sus hijos. Los padres, y algunas madres leyeron cuentos, armaron rompecabezas, jugaron "La Moneda Indiscreta", y participaron en una competencia de canicas! Luego, tuvimos un pequños show con canciones y un poema. Finalmente, los chicos dieron a los papás sus regalos y compartieron una merienda.
